Antonio, his older brother, was also a goalie who came through AC Milan’s youth system. Even though he was raised admiring Gianluigi Buffon, he has always backed Milan.

Donnarumma, who came through the team’s youth system, started his career with AC Milan in 2015 at the age of 16 years and 242 days, making him the second-youngest goalkeeper to ever make his Serie A debut. He quickly established himself in the starting lineup and gained recognition as perhaps the most promising young goalkeeper in the world at the time. After an eight-year break, Donnarumma helped Milan qualify for the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League and finish second in the 2020–21 Serie A in 2021.

In addition, he received the Yashin Trophy, IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper, and Serie A’s Best Goalkeeper of the Year awards. Donnarumma left Milan after six years to be one of PSG players on a free transfer in June 2021. As part of a 2025 treble, he won the UEFA Champions League there.

In March 2016, Donnarumma, at 17 years and 28 days old, set a new record as the youngest Italian to ever play for the U21 squad. At the age of 17 years and 189 days, he became the youngest goalie to ever play for Italy when he made his senior international debut six months later.

At UEFA Euro 2020, Donnarumma played for Italy, helping the side win the competition and earning the Player of the Tournament title—a first for a goalie.

Russian professional football player Matvey Yevgenyevich Safonov was born on February 25, 1999. He plays goal for the Russian national team and and one of PSG players, a side in Ligue 1.

He received his first call-up to the Russian national football team on October 9, 2020, for matches against Hungary and Turkey in the UEFA Nations League.

Safonov was added to the preliminary extended 30-man roster for UEFA Euro 2020 on May 11, 2021. On June 1st, he made his debut against Poland in a friendly game.
