Pastor Mrs. Elizabeth Abosede Oyemade, wife of Dr. Sam Oyemade, founder of Bearer of Light Ministry, died recently at the age of 53 after a brief illness. On Friday, March 7, friends, family, and pastors from various denominations, particularly the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, gathered at the YMCA Hall in Agege, Lagos, to pay their final respects to her.
The duration of the service was roughly two hours. However, many were much comforted by the testimonies of the late teacher of the word, who so ably supported her husband’s ministry. who declared throughout the funeral that she was certain she had gone to be with the Lord.
The event’s preacher, Pastor David Ikhielea, stated that he had the chance to meet the late Bible teacher approximately two weeks prior to her transition. He and a few of God’s servants were given a lavish reception in the family home, and he later had reason to pray for her. Ikhielea claimed that he prayed fervently and was sure she would recover from her illness, only to be confronted by another pastor who asked out loud, “What happened to the prayers that we prayed, why didn’t God hear us?”
“I told the pastor that her transition was God’s own way of answering us,” Ikhielea remarked. I think the prayer helped her get ready for her last sleep. I give God the praise after hearing how she passed. She exhaled her last breath after saying, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” It was a magnificent mode of transportation.
He emphasized that rather than being afraid of dying, believers should focus on remaining in God’s will. “The Lord may call us home at any time.” We now have the responsibility to not fall short. Our sister put up a valiant battle. She was a valiant Christ-follower. She has left to relax.
Taking advantage of the fact that many people are playing church instead of living their lives as they were called to, Ikhielea used the occasion to caution believers against leading double lives.
