Pastor Abel Damina: Tattoos Can Glorify God

Pastor Abel Damina, a Nigerian preacher and the founder of Power City International Ministry, has rekindled the controversy around Christianity and tattoos.

Damina asserts that as long as a tattoo honors God, it is not sinful.

Citing Jesus’ teachings that repealed the rule, Pastor Abel Damina underlined that the New Testament does not apply to the Old Testament ban on tattoos.

In a recent guest appearance on Nedu Wozabia’s co-hosted 234 Mzansi Podcast, he stated:

“In the Old Testament, tattoos were prohibited because they say you shouldn’t draw marks on your body. But in the New Testament, Jesus has abolished that law.

“So, if you want to have a tattoo, God is not against it. It’s your body. But make sure what you are putting there honours God and has meaning.”

Some would consider Damina’s viewpoint to be novel and thought-provoking, while others might perceive it as out of the ordinary and contradicting Christian doctrine.
