Canaan-James-300x157 American Idol: Canaan James Hill, 17, Delivers Powerful 'I Need Your Glory' Performance

On American Idol, Canaan James Hill, who was only 17 years old, stunned the audience with a stirring performance of “I Need Your Glory.”

During a Monday night episode of American Idol, Dallas’ Canaan James performed Earnest Pugh’s I Need Your Glory by himself. From the first note, he impressed the judges with his vocal range and sincerity.

At the end of the song, Lionel Richie, one of the judges, stood up, clearly moved.

“That was powerful,” Richie stated.

“That was something so spectacular — I just can’t even describe what I heard,” he added.

“To God be the glory,” Hill said.

“You have a gift,” came from another judge, Carrie Underwood.

“I’m kind of speechless.”

“You did not give off the air of a 17-year-old,” Underwood said.

In the judges’ interview, the Texas native stated that he wants to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and that he graduated from high school early.

Hill stood out as a result of winning the Platinum Ticket. Talent knows no age, as demonstrated by his heartfelt performance.
