Mike Bickle Biography

Mike Bickle Biography – Michael Leroy Bickle is an American evangelical leader born on July 17, 1955. Bickle was known for his leadership role in the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC). His leadership role makes him oversee several ministries and a Bible school. He is an excellent author and led many churches as a pastor.

Early Life & Ministry

Mike Bickles evangelical Christian journey came as far as when he was fifteen. His football coach paid for him to attend the Fellowship of Christian Athletes student conference in Estes Park, Colorado. He became committed to Jesus after hearing the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach speak of his personal experience with Jesus.

Afterward, Bickle served in several evangelical churches in St. Louis, before moving to Kansas City to begin the Kansas City Fellowship (presently known as South Kansas City Fellowship) in November 1982. In 1990, John Wimber led the church (Association of Vineyard Churches) was joined with Kansas City Fellowship and was renamed Metro Vineyard Christian Fellowship.


Kansas City Fellowship remained a part of that association of churches till the year 1996. While he was pastoring at the Metro Christian Fellowship, Mike Bickle was a pastor to a group famous to both detractors and supporters as the Kansas City Prophets including Bob Jones, John Paul Jackson, Paul Cain, and many others.

He had various claims of having encounters with God, which also included hearing the audible voice of God and being taken to heaven more than once.

Mike Bickle left the church he was pastoring Metro Christian Fellowship. He took over the leadership role in a megachurch of over three thousand members (International House of Prayer). The megachurch is known for its daily prayer meetings held 24 hours a day and round the clock a year since September 1999.


The megachurch also has a Bible college known as International House of Prayer University and young adult internships. The present evaluation of the church consists of up to 2,500 full-time staff members, students, and interns.

Onething Conference is being organized annually by IHOPKC at the Kansas City Convention Center. The event recorded over 25,000 young adults who attended in 2010. The aim of the conference is worship music, and sermons on prayer, evangelism, and Christian eschatology.

Bickles Theology

His teachings have majorly focused on prayer, worship, fasting, the Great Commandment, spiritual gifts, the Great Commission, and many others. He is best known for his casual dressing while preaching.

His ministry has received a seal of approval from many American charismatic leaders such as Dr. Jack W. Hayford, Bill Bright, and many more.
