Pastor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya Biography

Daniel Kolawole Olukoya BiographyIn Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, Professor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya was born into a family of traders and police officers, Mr. and Mrs. Olukoya. He enrolled in St. John’s CAC Primary School in Akure, where, during his time there, he excelled academically and was acknowledged as an exceptionally bright youngster. He later enrolled at St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebute Metta, after his family relocated to Lagos, and he graduated with honors.

Following that, Professor D.K. Olukoya went to the Methodist Boys’ High School (MBHS), located on Broad Street in Lagos and founded in 1878. By the way, this is the place where he experienced a rebirth. Additionally, he met an Indian instructor at MBHS who famously exclaimed, “Boys, if you want to escape poverty, read your book!” in front of the class. DKO assiduously adhered to this suggestion, studying every day from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. DKO was the best-graduating student in his class when he left MBHS.

Professor Daniel Olukoya was accepted to study microbiology at the University of Lagos (Unilag) in 1976. In 1980, he received a first-class Microbiology degree from Unilag. He was the first student at the university to receive a first-class grade in the subject, and as of February 2010, his G.P.A. remains the highest ever for that particular course.

He was awarded a scholarship to study molecular genetics for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom shortly after graduating. Notwithstanding the program’s inherent difficulties, DKO completed his PhD in three years and left for Nigeria.

After coming back to Nigeria, DKO started working at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, where he established himself as a remarkable African-American geneticist. After publishing more than 70 scientific publications in a short period, DKO became recognized as an expert in the field of genetics—a remarkable accomplishment by any measure. In addition, he served as an external examiner for several universities and taught genetics. In addition, he has attended and given papers at scientific conferences on practically every continent in the globe. With the Daniel & Fola Biotechnology Foundation, a recognized non-governmental organization that was founded to provide Nigerian residents with modern, cutting-edge laboratory skills in molecular biology and biotechnology, DKO is still making contributions to the fields of genetics and biotechnology today.

In addition to serving as a police officer, Prof. Olukoya’s father was a pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). He was brought up in a Christian household with Christian values. DKO was devoted to serving the Lord Jesus Christ during his entire academic career. During his doctoral studies in the UK, his fervor for Jesus and his spiritual fervor grew immensely. The work of the Christ Apostolic Church’s founder, Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola, has a significant influence on Prof. Olukoya’s ministry. Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya wrote with reverence in the Prayer Rain and Prayer Passport books’ dedication pages that Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola was a godly priest who knew the power of prayer. Apostle Babalola and his group of combative prayer warriors paralyzed deeply ingrained anti-gospel actions, subdued devils that demanded worship and entered forbidden jungles.

Its assets are valued at billions of naira. The football team, MFM FC, and the post-secondary institution, Mountain Top University, are owned by the church. Professor Olukoya is a composer and musician. He reportedly penned the well-known hymn “Oke Nla Sidi,” which translates to “O ye mountain, be removed,” as he waited on the Lord for his son Elijah Toluwani Olukoya for many years. In her testimony, his wife, Pastor Dr. Shade Olukoya, claimed that as soon as she learned of his son’s birth, Dr. Olukoya started singing. She claimed that once they arrived at their place, he sang so long and was so delighted that he lost his way, went to another apartment, and tried his keys on the lock. They had waited on the Lord for more than 16 years of marriage at that point, so there was much to be happy about.
