Controversy Over Gospel Singer Fees: Timi Dakolo Reacts to Apostle Femi Lazarus

Timi-Dakolo-300x240 Controversy Over Gospel Singer Fees: Timi Dakolo Reacts to Apostle Femi Lazarus

Timi Dakolo, a Nigerian artist, responded to a recent article by Apostle Femi Lazarus about gospel performers charging to play.

He advocated against the commercialization of ministry, according to Femi Lazarus. Additionally, he brought attention to a time when a singer charged $5 million to perform for his church.

However, the gospel and gospel music communities, as well as internet users, have responded to his remarks in a variety of ways.

According to Timi Dakolo, who responded to the Apostle’s remark, music is a vocation that requires payment.

“My dear Christians, a quote/conversation can sound intelligent and deep yet untrue. Just like everyone else. You deserve the very best things life has to offer. You should be paid what you deserve. Studio sessions, productio,n and promotion cost a lot. You have a family to feed, you have rent to pay.

“You have more songs to put out. We should stop all these attacks on people’s work. As much as it is spiritual, music is an art. If you can’t pay people, Use your choir members and pay the amount you could have given the guest artist. I doubt the second part.

According to Timi Dakolo, “This gaslighting has to stop. If you can’t pay people, use your choir members and pay them what you would have given the guest artist.”
