EARL LIFE AND BACKGROUND

During their stay in Scotland, they were shaped by Scottish revival meetings and the ministries of men like Robert Murray McCheyne, Horatius Bonar, and William Burns.

The two brothers went from there to the University of Utrecht to study Theology. They became members of Het Réveil – a religious revival group opposed to the rationalism which was a fancy in the Netherland at that moment.

Murray and his brother were ordained on May 9, 1848, by the Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church and returned to South Africa.

LESSONS FROM HIS LIFE

One of the greatest lessons every believer should learn from his life is to have God do things His way. We should avail ourselves as vessels in His hand and see the wonders we will become. God bless you. Shalom!
