Governor Fubara Donates N50M to Church in Honor of Aide’s Late Mother

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara praised the exemplary life of Madam Ayebadieye Edward Dorcas Igbeta at her funeral service in Nembe. During the service, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Anglican Communion, Nembe, Bayelsa State, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Governor Fubara donated N50 million towards the completion of the cathedral in her memory.

Madam Igbeta, the mother of one of Governor Fubara’s aides, was 79 years old.

Governor Fubara expressed his condolences, saying, “We are here as a government to show that in this difficult time, we stand with him. We know that there is no consolation here that can fill the gap of this loss, more especially the loss of a mother.

But, we want to draw his mind to the good Book: that it is the Lord that giveth, and it is also the Lord that taketh.” He then announced the N50 million donation to support the cathedral’s completion in honor of Madam Igbeta, who was a devoted member of the church.
