JFC’s Strategies to Combat Online Gender-Based Violence

As part of its own celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, which is observed today worldwide, Journalists for Christ International Outreach has provided strategies for reducing tech-facilitated gender-based violence in Nigeria.

According to Otufodunrin, JFC‘s recent social media trend monitoring revealed a high number of instances of unjustified sexist remarks and tech-enabled gender-based violence against women.

Online attacks against women are on the rise, according to JFC’s work, which was backed by the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) and Bread for The World, the German Protestant Agency for Diaconia.

The JFC president urged the media and other parties involved to raise awareness, educate the public, and participate in online support groups on the need to stop attacks on women in order to halt this trend.

He also urged the need to combat misogyny when it is observed and to support victims of gender-based violence.

According to him, men who are aware of the problem ought to be involved in educating youngsters about the importance of women and responsibility.

Additionally, he stated that “the campaign to stop the trend should involve religious leaders and community organizations.” Family values need to be reoriented, and the misreading of religious texts needs to be addressed.
