JOE METTLE BIOGRAPHY
Joe Oscar Nii Armah Mettle who is popularly known by his stage name Joe Mettle is a Ghanaian gospel music minister and songwriter, he won the VGMA Artiste of the year award in his Genre on the 8th of April 2017 – the first Gospel music singer to win it. Joe has ascended many international platforms and performed alongside international Gospel artists such as Donnie McClurkin and many more. He has won many awards in Ghana and internationally.
BACKGROUND
He is a marketer by profession. However, he was called a worshiper. Joe was born on the 5th of July 1971 to the family of Emmanuel Mettle and Florence Addo and he is the first of six children. He started his elementary education at the Richard Akwei Memorial School and was moved to Kade 1 and 2 Primary School. He spent a year at Kade before returning to St. Michael’s and All Angels, Accra. He finished his Junior High School at Korle Gonno 3 and had his Senior High School Certificate from His Majesty Academy.
Joe had his tertiary education at Pentecost University College, a private Christian University College situated at Sowutuom, Accra.
MUSIC MINISTRY
Joe started singing as a backup vocalist for the likes of Cindy Thompson and Rev Tom Bright Davies. He was the lead worshiper for the local multicultural music band, known as Soul Winners. He won Artiste of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, and Male Vocalist Artiste of the Year at the 2017 VGMA. The first Gospel Artiste to win Artiste of the Year Award.
He has won many other awards both locally and internationally. Awards like Africa Gospel Music Awards, Gospel Industry Awards, and many others.
He has released many songs that have earned him recognition both at home and abroad. Some of the songs are “Nhyira”, “Medo Wo”, “Akokyem Nyame”, and so on. The recent one that earned him nominations at the 2017 VGMA is titled “Onwanwani” (God of Wonders).

Joe Mettle started his ministry in 2007 and has two major annual rubrics; Praiz reloaded, midyear, and Lovegift every December.
He is also the manager of a rehearsal and recording studio known as Reverb Studios in Accra. The company specializes in musical equipment rental, and music and marketing consultancy.
