John Crist and Lydia Fielder Announce Engagement

Lydia Fielder, a news anchor in Nashville, and Christian comedian John Crist are formally engaged. On his social media pages, he posted snippets of their happy occasion.

The news was eagerly shared on Instagram by Crist, who is well-known for his clean, observational humor that has its roots in Christian culture.

“The best thing that’s ever happened to me in my entire life by far,” he wrote alongside photos of the proposal. “I love you so much Lydia Fielder.”

Fielder, a Nashville co-anchor for WSMV-TV, also posted the news on her personal social media accounts, writing:

“God wrote it from the start, my first love is now my forever love. I do, John B. Crist.”

She left a loving remark on Crist’s page, saying, “God’s redemptive plan, JB. I love you!”

The couple’s engagement has resonated with both peers and fans. Heartfelt congratulations poured in from celebrities and other well-known figures.

As one of eight children raised in a pastor’s home in Atlanta, Crist, 41, started his comedic career in 2009 by doing open-mic nights, bars, and churches.

His path hasn’t always been simple, though. After accusations of sexual misconduct arose in 2019, Crist canceled the remaining dates of his tour and Netflix canceled his forthcoming special.

He spent four months in treatment for his addiction and sexual immorality. Crist acknowledged that he struggled with intense shame and considered suicide during this time, but he finally found comfort in his faith.

The engagement of John Crist and Lydia Fielder represents a new chapter full of love, hope, and faith in addition to being a significant personal milestone.
