Early Life
Born in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, on July 15, 1957, Daniel Kolawole Olukoya grew up in a Christian home and became deeply religious at an early age. He attended St. John’s CAC Primary School in Akure before relocating to Lagos, where he attended Methodist Boys’ High School and St. Jude’s Primary School.
Ministry
Following his academic path, Olukoya graduated with a First Class Honors degree in Microbiology from the University of Lagos. He continued his studies and earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
Olukoya made important contributions to the science of genetics after returning to Nigeria and joining the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). He is credited with becoming the first scientist from Nigeria to clone genes. The scientific community has been greatly impacted by his articles and research.
Apart from his scholarly endeavors, Olukoya is a well-known spiritual guide. Early in the nineties, he established the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). A worldwide ministry, MFM is renowned for its focus on deliverance, spiritual warfare, and fervent prayer.
Around the world, millions of people have been impacted by Olukoya’s books and teachings. Among Christians looking for spiritual direction, his writings, such “Prayer Rain” and “Overpowering Witchcraft,” have gained popularity. Mountain Top University is one of the educational institutions that MFM has founded in order to fulfill its purpose of academic and spiritual development.

Marital Status
Elijah Toluwani Olukoya is the son of Olukoya and Elizabeth Folasade Olukoya, who are married. Olukoya keeps a balanced personal life in spite of his hectic schedule. He gets encouragement and support from his family in all of his pursuits.
Honour
For his contributions to religion and science, Olukoya has won various honors and recognitions. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lagos in 2019. Several music organizations have also recognized him for his contributions to Christian music.
