Dr. Abel Damina, a well-known Nigerian pastor, has encouraged Nigerians to refrain from transferring the burden of governance to God, emphasizing that elected officials’ obligations cannot be replaced by divine intervention.
In a recent podcast, Dr. Damina stressed that although prayer and faith are important in a believer’s life, people must also hold those in power accountable and practice good governance.
“God will not do the work of government for you,” Abel Damina declared.
“It is the responsibility of leaders to provide infrastructure, jobs, healthcare, and security. You cannot keep asking God to fix what leaders are elected to handle.”
In addition, the founder of Power City International pointed out that many Nigerians tend to spiritualize socio-political issues rather than tackling them through civic engagement, education, and holding leaders accountable. He emphasized that real change occurs when people are aware of their rights, actively participate in governance, and cast informed ballots.
