Solomon Buchi: Dating is Unbiblical, Should Be Banned

Christian influencer Solomon Buchi has ignited a debate online with his condemnation of dating among Christians. He argues that dating is unbiblical and should be replaced with intentional courtship focused on marriage.

Buchi suggests that Christians should only engage in relationships with the explicit intention of marriage, eliminating “talking stages” and casual dating. “I think we should ban dating because it’s not in the Bible,” he stated. “Do you want to marry this person or not? Is this person your future spouse or not? Have you made up your mind to be with them forever or not?”

He contrasts modern dating practices with what he perceives as the biblical model, where men were “very intentional” and immediately involved families and church leaders in the process of pursuing marriage. Buchi believes that the prevalence of dating is a significant problem today.

He advises women to directly ask potential partners about their intentions regarding marriage. “If a guy moves to you, ask him if he is sure he wants to marry you or not. And if you know you love me as you have said, please come and meet my parents.”

Buchi concludes that God calls individuals to be spouses, not boyfriends or girlfriends. He asserts that there is no honor in simply being someone’s boyfriend or girlfriend and that any romantic relationship that doesn’t involve discussions of marriage is not aligned with God’s will.
