Transformation Today: A Daily Devotional With Victor Adeyemi
Topic: He Foreknew You
“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” Romans 8:29, NIV
To understand purpose, you should properly understand what it means for God to foreknow and to predestine. The word ‘foreknow’ is from the Greek word ‘Proginosko’. It means to know beforehand or know ahead of time.
Some of us already know ahead of time when our local church service ends and some people know what the weather is going to be like next week. These are different manifestations of foreknowledge. God’s knowledge of us dates back to the eternal past, before the beginning of time.
Time has a beginning and an end. God knew you before ‘start’ got started. God knew you before the very beginning. He knew you before anything came into existence. He had your life and existence settled in His plan before the earth’s existence. Before Adam and Eve were formed 6,000 years ago, you were known by God!
This should give you great encouragement. God is not just trying to know you today. He is not carrying out any research in order to know your tomorrow. He knew you before there was anything at all.
My God knew me before the beginning of time and has a great plan for my life. Nothing takes Him by surprise. He is working all things together for my good according to His divine plan.
