Born on April 21, 1897, Aiden Wilson Tozer passed away on May 12, 1963. He received honorary doctorates from Wheaton and Houghton Colleges for his accomplishments.
La Jose, a tiny farming community in Western Pennsylvania, was Tozer’s hometown. He overheard a street preacher on his way home from work at a tire business in Akron, Ohio, remark, “If you don’t know how to be saved… just call on God, saying, ‘Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.'” He became a Christian as a teenager as a result of this. Upon arriving home, he proceeded to the attic and did as the preacher had instructed.
