40,000 Miles for Christ: Arthur Blessitt Dies at 84

Evangelist Arthur Blessitt, famous for his global mission carrying a 12-foot wooden cross, died on January 14, 2025, at the age of 84. His journey, which began on Christmas Day 1969, took him across all seven continents, including Antarctica, and earned him a world record.

His family released a video message and self-written obituary after his death. In the obituary, Blessitt declared, “I, Arthur Blessitt, have completed my walk and mission on earth.” He requested no funeral or memorial service and urged Christians to continue sharing the gospel.

Blessitt’s ministry focused on personal evangelism. His initial walk from Hollywood to Washington D.C. evolved into a 43,346-mile trek through 324 countries. He is survived by his wife, Denise, seven children, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The announcement of his passing was made on Tuesday.
