Nigeria’s Abuja The current controversy surrounding the death of gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu has been addressed in a statement by Dr. Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Center. Dr. Enenche denied allegations in a video message that the church knew of Osinachi’s alleged domestic abuse at the hands of her husband.

Osinachi visited him several months ago, complaining of respiratory problems and chest pains, according to Dr. Enenche, who described his encounters with her during her sickness. He made it possible for her to receive medical care, which included visits with a number of specialists at renowned Abuja hospitals.

Dr. Enenche did admit, nevertheless, that at the time he was ignorant of any domestic abuse. He claimed that when Osinachi passed away, he mostly found out about the severity of the abuse through discussions with her close friends and family. He underlined that Osinachi and her family constantly begged anyone who knew about the abuse to keep it private out of concern for her husband’s reaction.

The church’s strong position against domestic abuse was reaffirmed by Dr. Enenche, who said that “it is better to be alive without marriage than to die because of marriage.” He stressed that the church cannot control people’s behavior and admitted that abuse may happen in any community, including the church.

On April 8, 2022, Osinachi Nwachukwu, a well-known gospel singer with a strong voice, sadly passed away. When reports of serious domestic abuse by her husband emerged after her death, the public was outraged and condemned.
