Dodie Osteen, Joel Osteen’s Mother, Passes Away

Joel Osteen’s cherished mother, Dodie Osteen, who was also a co-founder of Lakewood Church, died at the age of 91.

Joel Osteen, her son, claims that Dodie passed away quietly at home from natural causes.

In 1959, Dodie Osteen and her late husband, John Osteen, co-founded Lakewood Church, which the family lovingly refers to as “Mama Dodie.”

With more than 45,000 weekly attendees, the church became one of the biggest in the United States under their direction.

Joel Osteen announced the news on his Instagram page;

“It is with a heavy heart that Victoria and I, along with our family, announce the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Dolores “Dodie” Osteen.

“She was the beloved matriarch of Lakewood Church, an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and a faithful servant of God.

“Known as ‘Mama Dodie’ to the entire Lakewood family, together, we celebrate her amazing life and lasting legacy. She passed of natural causes, peacefully at her home. She was 91 years old.”

Dodie was a devout follower of God who wrote a number of books, including Healed of Cancer, which details her incredible 1981 recovery from liver cancer.
