These celebrities were introduced to Christ by other Christians on TV and film sets, even though several of them were raised as ardent atheists. These five famous people discovered God while filming or filming a television show.
1. Andrew Garfield
Andrew Garfield did not identify as a Christian and had no idea who Jesus was. All of that changed as he was getting ready to play Father Sebastiao Rodrigues in the film “Silence,” directed by Martin Scorsese. Garfield claimed that he needed to study Christian texts, engage in Christian exercises, and speak with priests in order to get ready for the position.
“That was the most surprising thing …That was the most remarkable thing—falling in love, and how easy it was to fall in love with Jesus,” Garfield stated. Garfield was advised and mentored spiritually by Jesuit priest Father James Martin. Garfield claimed that Martin improved his understanding of God.
“It’s almost like a 12-step program,” he said. “In fact, it’s the basis for a lot of 12-step programs, a long-form meditation and prayer spent imagining the life of Christ, story by story, gospel by gospel, and sitting with his teachings, sitting with Him as He discovers who He is in the wilderness, and really meditating upon His life and even crucifixion.”
2. Chris Tucker
Because both his parents were members of the Church of God in Christ when he was growing up, Chris Tucker was raised in a Pentecostal Christian home. Tucker, the Hollywood actor, however, lost touch with his beliefs along the road. Rather, he gained notoriety for being a boisterous, profane comedian. His success with films like the Rush Hour series and the cult favorite “The Fifth Element” was a result of his crazy personality and willingness to take on any topic. However, his perspective on the world shifted and he became a born-again Christian after shooting the 1997 film “Money Talks.” Something on that set improved Tucker’s life, however the specifics of his conversion and the events surrounding it are still unknown.
Due to his newfound religion, he declined to appear in the follow-up to the popular comedy “Friday,” and in 2011, he declared that his stand-up comedy tour would not contain any foul language. “Being a Christian helps me in comedy,” says Chris Tucker, who relishes the challenge of being a Christian comic. I might have gone in a lot of different directions that would have reduced me to simply another statistic.
Following this, the Hollywood actor struggled to reconcile his job and his fervent Christian beliefs, feeling deeply guilty about appearing in the series. He was working on the show, which dealt with a lot of depravity, drinking, sex, and drugs. “You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that,” Jones said after leaving the show.

4. Kirk Cameron

At the age of 14, he entered the entertainment business and rose to fame as Mike Seaver in “Growing Pains,” one of the 1980s’ top heartthrobs. Before being told otherwise by the parent of a girl he liked, he believed he had it all. The father remarked, “You have a lot, but you don’t have the Lord.” At the age of 17, Cameron started attending church and became a born-again Christian.
Similar to Angus Jones, he recognized the lack of faith on set and was eager to leave that way of life. Toward the end of the series, he argued with the show’s producers about his characters’ “sinful ways” because he didn’t want to show someone who wasn’t true to Christ. As a result, the show’s great run came to an end, and Kirk Cameron abandoned Hollywood’s commercialism to pursue Christian films and other endeavors. “Put your nose into the Bible every day,” he has said. 5. Angelina Jolie
