With the official start of the 2025–2026 NFL season, fans are eager to support their teams as the best players vie for a Super Bowl berth. For some players, though, it’s about more than the Super Bowl. It’s about identifying with God and exalting Him. This season, support these Christian NFL players.
1. Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson was the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks for his first ten seasons in the NFL. He is currently a member of the Denver Broncos for his third season. He is a nine-time Pro Bowl player and the winner of Super Bowl XLVIII. Wilson and his spouse, Ciara, hosted a worship session for God Behind Bars, a prison ministry, last year. Wilson talked about the occasion on Instagram, stating that more than 300 prisoners adored Jesus. Additionally, he cited John 3:17, which states that God sent Jesus to earth in order to use Him to save the world. In addition to regularly posting scriptures on social media and telling his followers that Jesus loves them. Wilson is one of Christian NFL players who has never been afraid to share his faith.
2. Harrison Butker
The Kansas City Chiefs’ kicker, Harrison Butker, is well-known for having a strong Christian faith. He has been transparent about his faith and how it has influenced both his career and personal life, much like other professional sportsmen. Butker has stated that he feels he is here on earth because he want to be a saint. “I’m not just making kicks to make money and market myself as a great person that people should aspire to,” he added. He makes a living because God has given him the opportunity to spread the gospel of virtue, faith, becoming a saint, and getting closer to the sacraments.
Butker’s very contentious graduating speech at Benedictine College in May sparked intense discussion about birth control, gender roles, and life after graduation. In his remarks, he denounced the repression of conservative opinions and denounced what he saw as the degradation of free speech on college campuses. Buker made national news with his direct words and unyielding position, which attracted both fervent support from his supporters and harsh criticism.
3. Trevor Lawrence
The quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars is Trevor Lawrence. After being chosen first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft, Lawrence had a breakthrough season in 2022 and helped the team win their first division title since 2017. The quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings is Kirk Cousins. He was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft to serve as Robert Griffin III’s backup. After Griffin III suffered an injury in 2015, he would finally take his spot. Cousins joined the Vikings as a free agency in 2018 and has since been a productive member of the squad. Throughout his career, the famous quarterback has frequently discussed his beliefs. He talked to “Beyond the Ultimate” on how his faith influenced him while he was a student at Michigan State. 5. Patrick Mahomes

6. Jalen Hurts
The Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback, Jalen Hurts, guided his team to the Super Bowl the previous season but lost in the closing seconds. “He who kneels before God can stand before any man #BREEDOF1,” he wrote with a photo of him kneeling and praying on the pitch. Hurts talked about how he welcomes all the fame and wealth that come with playing in the Super Bowl at a press conference held at Super Bowl LVII. He claims that by remaining loyal to himself and being the person God has called him to be, he embraces it all. He also mentioned that John 13:7 is his favorite passage because it encourages him to keep his eyes on God and to be patient, steadfast, and vigilant. Hurts is one of Christian NFL players who claims that no matter what, he will never lose sight of God.
7. C.J. Stroud
One of the NFL’s most promising rookie quarterbacks, C.J. Stroud, starts for the Houston Texans. Following an exceptional rookie campaign, he immediately gained recognition for both his skill on the field and his audacity in expressing his religious beliefs. Stroud frequently starts his press conferences after games by praising Jesus Christ and stating that his goal as a football player is to share the gospel. By publicly practicing his religion, he has also developed deep relationships with both fans and other athletes. Stroud recently became close to a youngster who was a Make-A-Wish beneficiary, offering him support through prayer and the Bible. Stroud says his ultimate objective is to use his position to point people to God and has never been afraid to remind others of the hope offered in Christ.
These men demonstrate that you can prosper if you prioritize God in your life. They use every chance to exalt God and demonstrate that life can be about more than just your work.
