Bishop Charles Agyinasare Biography
Archbishop Charles Agyinasare (born 22 March 1962) is a Ghanaian pastor who started the Word Miracle Church International, which later became Perez Chapel International, a Pentecostal-Charismatic organization in Ghana. He is the creator of Precious TV, the Chancellor of Perez University College, and the author of various Christian publications.
Early years
On March 22, 1962, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare was born Charles Yewuraekow Agyinasare in Achiase, Ghana’s Eastern Region. He eventually relocated to Accra, Greater Accra Region, to pursue education. He attended Weija Barracks Primary School, Armed Forces Experimental School, and Nsawam St. Martins.
He was a “women-chasing college freak” who became involved in “sin, revelry, alcoholism, and drug addiction” and “a life of smoking, truancy, chasing girls, using hard drugs, night-clubbing, and stints with various occult associations” there. Later, he was expelled from St. Martin’s. Agyinasare was introduced to the Church of Pentecost in 1980, where he converted to Christianity, was rescued from his immoral life, and joined the Church of Pentecost at the age of 18. Agyinasare filed a formal declaration in 2011 to alter his name to Charles Agyinasare.
Ministry
Enoch Agbodzo ordained Agyinasare as a missionary in 1984. In 1986, he went to Nigeria to study crusade planning with Benson Idahosa in Benin City, Nigeria. He is presently the head pastor of the Perez Dome, which has a 14,000-seat auditorium and is considered Ghana’s largest auditorium. On a visit, Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, characterized the house of worship as said to be “one of the Seven Wonders of Ghana”.
Impact
Former President of the Republic of Ghana John Agyekum Kufuor bestowed the Member of the Order of the Volta (MV) on Agyinasare in 2007 for his remarkable efforts in advocating African greatness as a religious leader. Professor Clifton Clarke presented Agyinasare with The Global Leadership Award from Regent University, USA in 2015 in appreciation of his efforts in raising leaders throughout the world and his global effect. He has received declarations from the State of Texas and is a Texas honorary citizen. According to a 2015 poll in Ghana, Agyinasare was named the 20th Most Influential Ghanaian.

History
Charles Agyin-Asare launched Perez Chapel International in 1987 as Word Miracle Church International in Tamale. The headquarters were relocated to Accra in 1994, and a new church with 70 members was created. It dedicated the Perez Dome, a 14,000-seat cathedral, in 2011. The Perez Dome had 7,000 members in 2013 and the denomination had 50,000 in Accra. In 2013, it changed its name to Perez Chapel International. It claimed to have 400 churches in 16 countries in 2017.

Education
Perez University College, a co-ed Christian university in Gomoa Pomadze in Ghana’s Central Region, is administered by the Church. The Pan African Christian University College was its previous name. It was the Central region’s first private university to be created.
Controversies
The Kirk Franklin concert drew a crowd that outnumbered the dome’s capacity of 14,000 people. Thousands of people were unable to access the venue, prompting criticism of the organizers, Multimedia Group, and the church.
