American Christian preacher and educator Charles Emmitt Capps was a member of the Word of Faith movement from January 4, 1934, to February 23, 2014.

Early Life

Born on January 4, 1934, in Burmmitt, Arkansas, Charles Emmitt Capps came from a farming family. Capps’ upbringing in a rural setting instilled in him a strong work ethic and a profound respect for the natural world. His character was molded by his early hardships, which also gave him a feeling of fortitude and independence.

Despite coming from a nonreligious background, Capps started to discover his spiritual side when he was a teenager.
