DORINDA CLARK-COLE BIOGRAPHY

Dorinda Grace Clark-Cole is an American Grammy Award-winning music minister, songwriter, singer, talk show host, and evangelist. She is known as a member of the family vocal group The Clark Sisters. As a member of the group, she has two Grammy Awards. Clark-Cole is known in the industry as the “Rose of Gospel Music”.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND

She was born on the 19th of October, 1957, and was raised in Detroit, Michigan to the family of late Elbert and Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark. Clark-Cole started singing at a very early age with Karen, Twinkie, Jacky, and Denise – her sisters. The sisters were singers in their father’s church and some of the songs they sang were written and composed by their mother.

She is a mezzo-soprano referred to as the “Jazzy sister” of the group she belonged to that always features high and fast melismas, rifts, runs, scats, and soulful growls. Her passion for singing started when her mother saw the gift in her and encouraged her in developing it. When she was young and while her peers were playing outside, she and her sister were working on their synergy.

According to her “We made a lot of sacrifices. My mom was a stickler for making sure we rehearsed before we went out to perform. She saw the gifts and talents within us and started shaping and molding us. She taught us discipline along with how to use our gifts.”

RECORDING CAREER

Her self-titled solo debut titled “Dorinda Clarke-Cole” was released in June 2002 through Gospo Centric Records/Zomba Label Group. The song won him two Stellar Awards and a Soul Train lady of Soul Award. In August 2005, she released her second album titled “The Rose of Gospel”. The album featured on Billboard’s top 5 on the Gospel charts and won a Grammy Nomination for the Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album. She won the Stellar Award for the Best Female Artist of the Year in 2007 and 2009.

Clark-Cole released a six-song (EP) in 2009 titled “In The Face of Change”. The song consists of many hit songs.

She has been on the evangelizing mission and several engagements every year for more than 20years coupled with her singing career, as a wife and mother.

Clark-Cole has ministered both home and abroad in countries like England, Japan, Germany, France, Korea, and so on. In South Africa, she made history as the first woman to minister to over 4,000 people from the pulpit. She is crucial in the Church of God in Christ, a place she is licensed as a National Evangelist.

Her preaching ministry is well known within the academic spaces.
