Born in Hadley, New York, in 1867, Kenyon’s spiritual journey began at age 17 with a conversion experience during a Methodist prayer meeting. He later joined the Methodist Church in Amsterdam, New York, where he served as a deacon. However, a period of doubt led him away from faith for two and a half years. In 1893, he returned to his faith with renewed vigor.
Despite his initial aspirations to become an actor, Kenyon pursued a career in sales, working as a piano and organ salesman. To refine his acting skills, he attended the Emerson School of Oratory in Boston in 1892.
