Download Faith Books on our platform. The Bible provides a concise definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” At its core, faith is about trust and confidence.
In the biblical context, faith is directed towards God and His promises. A prime example is Abraham, who believed God’s promise of countless descendants (Genesis 15:6). As Paul explains in Romans 4:20-21, Abraham’s unwavering belief in God’s ability to fulfill His promise demonstrates the power of faith.
Faith Beyond Intellectual Assent
Faith is more than mere intellectual agreement. It’s akin to trusting a tightrope walker to carry you across a perilous chasm. While you may intellectually acknowledge their skill, true faith is demonstrated by stepping into the wheelbarrow and entrusting yourself to their expertise.
In the same way, biblical faith involves placing your trust in God and confidently believing that He will fulfill His promises, even when circumstances seem uncertain.
