ELDER MIREKU BIOGRAPHY
Emmanuel Kwasi Mireku who is popularly known as Elder Mireku is a Ghanaian Gospel music minister and songwriter. Elder Mireku has been in the music industry for more than 40 years.
EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
He was born to the family of Emmanuel Kofi Mireku and Comfort Asiedua Mireku. Though he came from Kwahu Obomeng and Kwahu Atibe in the Eastern Region, he has lived the majority of his life in Koforidua.
He had his basic education at Presbyterian Elementary Schools and later went to Koforidua Technical Institute.
Elder Nireku began his music ministry in the year 1970s. he earned an honorary Doctorate in sacred music with his worship songs from the Ecclesiastical Bishops and Leaders Conference of Africa in 2016.
His influence in the Gospel music industry both in Ghana and beyond is great. He has up to 56 albums and each album has close to 10 songs.
Songs by him are over 500 and some include “Oko no wako awie”, “Odimafo (tongues)”, “Hallelujah”, and “Mempa Aba”. Elder Mireku received a lifetime achievement award at the first edition of Ghana Music Awards, South Africa.

MARITAL AND RELATIONSHIP STATUS
Elder Mireku is married to Philomina Mireku and the couple is blessed with two children namely – Evelyn and James. He said it one time of his intention to commit suicide after his dream to continue his education was shattered.
