Gary Chapman Biography – Gary Demote Chapman was born on January 10, 1938. He is an American Christian author and radio talk show host. He is popularly known for his The Five Love Languages book series as regards relationships.
EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
He was born in China Grove, North Carolina, United States.
Chapman graduated from Moody Bible Institute and possesses a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) degree in anthropology from Wheaton College and from Wake Forest University respectively.
He also holds a Master of Religious Education (MRE) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in adult education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Gary Chapman was part of the staff of Calvary Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1971 and took upon himself with others the responsibilities of teaching and family care.
He is popularly known for his book on relationships about how people can express and receive love “Five Love Languages”. How you can fill up the love tank of your partner through any of the five languages: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, or physical touch. According to him, you can have one as your primary love language and others as a secondary love language.
As earlier said, the book is a series book and the first of them was “The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate”. The book has been translated into over 49 languages aside from English and it has sold over 11 million copies in the English language. The 2015 edition of the book constantly ranked in the top 100 sellers on Amazon. It has constantly ranked in the top five books on the New York Times bestsellers list.
The concepts of the Five Love Language include for parents of children and teenagers, single adults, men, and military edition. He also co-authored “The Five Languages of Apology” with Dr. Jennifer Thomas. The book is about how to give and receive apologies.
He also has The Five Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace co-written with Dr. Paul White. He is an excellent speaker that travels the world speaking in seminars on marriage, family, and relationships and he has radio programs that air on more than 400 stations.
