Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has conveyed his sincere gratitude for the Anglican Church’s assistance, highlighting its vital role in his government. In addition, he has vowed to maintain good governance throughout his term in office. This promise and recognition came during a major courtesy call.

Governor Fubara hosted a group of Anglican Archbishops at Government House in Port Harcourt during the visit. Primate Most Reverend Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, Archbishop Metropolitan of All Nigeria, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, led this delegation. Nelson Chukwudi, the governor’s chief press secretary, then released a statement to the public expressing the governor’s views.

During his speech, Governor Fubara credited the church’s spiritual support for the success of his administration. In particular, he emphasized the significance of their “quiet prayers and fasting.” The approach of his administration, he stressed, is one of ‘governance of peace,’ marked by transparency, humility, and a readiness to admit mistakes and make amends. He said that his administration receives guidance and wisdom from the church’s prayers.

Furthermore, stating that nothing happens without divine consent, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his faith in God’s supremacy. He gave the people the assurance that his government will continue to uphold the fear of God. The goal of this pledge is to keep the government from going down routes that might endanger it.
