After being suspended from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) earlier this year, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the former pastor of the City of David parish, is said to have founded a new church called The Family Fellowship.

Three months before the church’s 2024 conference, Iluyomade was suspended from RCCG and told to report to the church’s Ebute Meta headquarters. Although his suspension’s reasons were not made public, rumors circulated that they had to do with how he handled the Trinity Tower project and his wife’s contentious birthday party, which was held soon after the death of well-known church member Herbert Wigwe.

Iluyomade has kept a low public profile and made few public appearances since his suspension. However, a video of Iluyomade and others in worship that went viral online on January 19th stoked rumors of a new church endeavor.

According to Christiandiet Media’s findings, Iluyomade has been accepting small fellowships at his Victoria Island legal firm for a number of weeks. According to information on Iluyomade’s Instagram account, the Civic Centre hosted The Family Fellowship’s first service on January 19.

According to sources, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG, may have given Iluyomade his blessing before he opened his new church. Iluyomade’s recent attendance at a Redemption City Holy Communion ceremony lends credence to this conjecture.

Sources close to Iluyomade explained his silence since his suspension as a result of his great regard for Pastor Adeboye and his wish to avoid saying anything that can be interpreted incorrectly.

Although Iluyomade has a lot of respect for Pastor Adeboye, the sources went on to say that he might have had trouble negotiating the internal dynamics within the RCCG leadership.
