Idowu Iluyomade Launches New Church Following RCCG Suspension

Former Pastor of the City of David parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has reportedly launched a new church, The Family Fellowship, following his suspension from the denomination earlier this year.

Iluyomade was suspended from RCCG three months prior to the church’s 2024 convention and instructed to report to the church headquarters in Ebute Meta. While the reasons for his suspension were not publicly disclosed, they were speculated to be connected to his handling of the Trinity Tower project and his wife’s controversial birthday celebration shortly after the passing of prominent church member Herbert Wigwe.

Since his suspension, Iluyomade has maintained a relatively low public profile, making limited public appearances. However, a video circulating online on January 19th showed Iluyomade and others in worship, fueling speculation about a new church venture.

Christiandiet Media investigations confirmed that Iluyomade has been holding small fellowships at his law firm in Victoria Island for several weeks. The inaugural service of The Family Fellowship reportedly took place at the Civic Centre on January 19th, as indicated on Iluyomade’s Instagram handle.

Sources suggest that Iluyomade may have received the blessing of RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prior to launching his new church. This speculation is supported by Iluyomade’s recent appearance at a Holy Communion service in Redemption City.

Regarding his silence since his suspension, sources close to Iluyomade attributed it to his deep respect for Pastor Adeboye and a desire to avoid making any statements that could be misconstrued.

The sources further explained that while Iluyomade holds great respect for Pastor Adeboye, he may have experienced difficulties navigating the internal dynamics within the RCCG leadership.
