JONATHAN MCREYNOLDS BIOGRAPHY

Jonathan McReynolds Biography – Jonathan McReynolds is an American Gospel music minister and songwriter. He started his professional music career in 2012 with the song titled “Life Music” through Entertainment One Music and he is a Grammy Award winner.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND

Jonathan Caleb McReynolds was born on the 17th of September 1989 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up with a single mother and with support from his family, church members, and his pastor. He learned to play drums at the age of five and piano at the age of eight. He was a talented musician at the New Original Church of God in Christ.

He was a shy kid but had to break out of his shell at high school singing in front of the crowd instead of doing it alone.

He went to Whitney Young Magnet High School and it was there he became a known musical talent and also learned how to record and produce music. He was part of the school podcast initiative.

MUSIC MINISTRY

He started his musical career in 2012 with the music titled “Life Music” released on September 25, 2012. The song was charted on the Billboard charts and it was at No. 98 on Billboard 200, No. 3 on Gospel Albums, and No. 23 on the Independent Albums chart.

His second album “Life Music: Stage Two” was nominated for Grammy Award, No. 1 for 4 weeks on Billboard Gospel, and a GMA Dove Award winner. The song featured Israel Houghton, India Arie, and Chantae Cann.

His biggest success came when he released the third album titled “Make Room” as it won him eight Stellar Awards and two Grammy Award nominations. It was No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts. He set a record in March 2018, when his one-hour TV special “Make Room” aired several times on TVOne. McReynolds became the time in his genre to partner with Tidal.

He released his book “Make Room: Finding Where Faith Fits” in the fall of 2018.

McReynolds founded Elihu Nation in 2016 that is aimed at “celebrating, promoting, and working to create young seekers and models of wisdom”. It is a non-profit organization that has organized multiple events targeted at Christian scholarship and self-help. The organization has awarded around $30,000 in college scholarships.

He has taught for five years at his alma mater Columbia College Chicago in the music department. He git his Master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Theological Seminary in 2015.

He was admitted into Mensa in 2018 – it was an international society for high-IQ individuals. Also, he became an honorary member of Alpha Nu Omega, Inc. an international Christian fraternity.
