KODA SINGER BIOGRAPHY

Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, who is popularly known as KODA is a Ghanaian Gospel music minister, songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND

KODA was born on the 15th of December 1978 in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. He showed interest in musical instruments at a very tender age. Due to his passion for musical instruments, his mother enrolled him in a music class at the age of 10 and it was there he developed his guitar playing skills.

He attended Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and he was the mass choir director of the university.

He was the music director and instrumentalist of the “Music Wing of Baptist Students Union”, “KNUST’s Simply Jazz Crew”, “God’s Instruments” and a top figure of “Da Project” – a legendary Ghanaian Gospel group.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The song “Awurade Ei” was a joint work by him for KNUST’s “God’s Instruments at KODED studio – where he co-wrote, mixed,  mastered, and produced the album. The album stormed the country as it received a massive welcome. It had powerful hits like “Tumi” and “Onyame”.

He came to the limelight as a producer with his work on the albums “Nii Okai’s Moko Be” and “Gye W’ayeyi”.

He has had the privilege to work with several iconic gospel artists in and outside the country and some of them including Pastor Josephy Gyebi, Danny Nettey, Pastor Joe Beecham, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Joyful Way Inc., Pastor Helen Yawson, Yaw Osei-Owusu, Ike Nanor, Eugene Zuta, Diana Hamilton, Calvis Hammond and so on.

KODA AND THE ANOINTED

KODA and his friends in Takoradi formed a Gospel music group called “The Anointed”. One of the aims of the group is to support upcoming artists and they have helped many both in the country and beyond.

He has released some songs that are blessings to the listener such as “Nyame Beye” his first album. “Waye Wie” includes powerful songs like “Waye Wie”, “Zion’s Song”, “Poma”, “Amen”, and so on. His third album which was titled “Black & White” had songs like “Guide Me O”, “Nkwa Abodoo”, “Obiara Nte Se Wo”. The fourth album was released in 2016 and was titled “Oxygen” which had songs like “Adooso”, “Yaa Pae”, “Chimo”.

He has released two instructional DVDs on bass and lead guitar and also three live DVDs of his major concerts the likes of “KODA live 2008”, “Black & White live 2013” and “Oxygen live 2016”.

MARITAL AND RELATIONSHIP STATUS

He is married to Ewurama Dua Anto and the couple has three children – two boys and a girl. The wife is also an anointed singer and has an album.
