“Nigeria’s Churches Must Unite Now,” Warns Cleric

Prophet I. O Samuel, an Abuja-based cleric, has issued a strong call for unity within the Nigerian Christian community, warning against the growing trend of interdenominational condemnation.

In a statement released to the press, Prophet Samuel emphasized the importance of recognizing the shared roots of many Christian denominations in Nigeria. He highlighted the historical significance of earlier Christian movements, such as Celestial Church, Sabbath, Cherubim and Seraphim, and Aladura, in shaping the landscape of Nigerian Christianity.

“We must not allow anyone to fool us into discriminating against other ministries or condemning their doctrines,” Prophet Samuel stated. “Many of our prominent leaders in today’s Pentecostal churches have their roots in these earlier movements.”

He expressed concern over the rise of “ritualists and spiritualists” within some churches, urging Christians to remain vigilant and focus on the core principles of love and unity.

The cleric also lamented the rejection of Prophet TB Joshua by some Christian leaders, highlighting the importance of recognizing the contributions of all genuine ministers, regardless of denominational affiliation.

Prophet Samuel concluded by emphasizing the urgency of addressing the growing divisions within Nigerian Christianity, warning that continued infighting could lead to a decline in the influence of Christianity in the nation.
