In Ipaja, Lagos, Dr. Olufemi Emmanuel has been named Acting Provost of the West Africa Theological Seminary.
Major General Kayode Oni (Rtd.), the chairman of the Governing Council, announced the appointment during a service held in the seminary on Wednesday, March 12, following a recent joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council.
As the Acting Provost of the WATS, which is connected to the Universities of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Asbury Theological Seminary, USA, he formally presented Dr. Emmanuel to the WATS community.
The appointment of Dr. Emmanuel signaled a dramatic change at the seminary, which for more than thirty years has served as a vital center of learning for church workers and leaders.
General Oni underlined the value of having unwavering faith in God through trials and transitions when he announced Emmanuel’s appointment.
He urged the seminary to hold fast and have faith in the Lord’s flawless plan.
“So many wonderful things are happening,” said Professor Gary Maxey, the founder of WATS, who emphasized his excitement about the seminary’s future. A lot of people are observing us. Many people have high hopes for what WATS will continue to deliver, and I pray that God will grant us many wonderful days in the future.
As he introduced himself, Dr. Olufemi Emmanuel thanked everyone for the chance to serve and promised to further the seminary’s goals.
He declared, “I accept the call to lead the seminary into the promising future that lies ahead with great gratitude and humility before God.”
According to Emmanuel, his readiness to take on the seminary’s responsibilities is based on God’s word.
Nonetheless, he desired the WATS community’s collaboration on the upcoming challenge.
“I urge everyone in the WATS community to band together and support one another. We have to bring the WATS family together as soon as feasible. “The Lord Jesus said, ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand,'” he added.
