RON KENOLY BIOGRAPHY

Ron Kenoly is an American Gospel music minister, worship leader, and songwriter who has a mandate “to make an atmosphere conducive for the manifest presence of God”. His style of music is of thrilling praise and excellence on musical instruments.

EARLY LIFE AND MUSICAL BACKGROUND

Ron Kenoly was born on the 6th of December, 1944 in Coffeyville, Kansas, US. He has many degrees to his name such as

  • Music degree from Alameda College
  • Master of Divinity from Faith Bible College
  • Doctorate of Ministry in Sacred music from Friends International Christian University

He was into Hollywood after high school and joined the Air Force in 1965. He met his wife Tavita in the military.

Kenoly started his music career after spending time in the US Air Force and he left the Air Force in 1968 to go after what he loves doing – Music. According to him, “As a child, I remember seeing Sammy Davis Jr. and Nat King Cole for the first time. I was so impressed as I watched two Black men grace a national stage. I knew right then that was what I wanted.”

 He previously started with a group called The Mellow Fellows but left the group due to personal issues.

In 1992, he came to the limelight when he released a fastest-selling worship album titled “Lift Him Up”. Also, another song titled “Welcome Home” which was produced by Tom Brooks became Billboard’s Top Contemporary Worship Music Album and won him Gospel Music Association Dove Award for Praise and Worship Album in 1997.

He initially started singing praise and worship for pastors like Jack Hayford and Lester Sumrall. He gained the attention of evangelist Mario Murillo who later introduced him to Pastor Dick Bernal – the founder of Jubilee Christian Center.

He entered the music ministry fully in 1985. Kenoly started as a worship leader at Jubilee Christian Center, San Jose, California. Shortly after that, he became the Music Pastor in 1987. As a Music Pastor, he was tasked to shepherd the whole music department in the ministry.

In 1993, another phase opened up to him in ministry. He began receiving invitations from churches and concerts all over the world. The churches not only wanted him to lead songs but to also help in developing their music departments.

His church understood the assignment on him and they make him the Ambassador of Music at Jubilee Christian Center. He was sent as a music soldier to churches and ministries all over the world to help develop and bring stability to worship and the Word.

By the year 1999, Kenoly felt the need to move location from California to the East Coast.

He met his wife of 42 years Tavita in the military. The couple has three sons.

LESSONS FROM HIS LIFE

Ron Kenoly recounted that when his mother was pregnant with him, she always rub her stomach, and declared “Lord let this one praise you”.

Words are powerful and they are not without effect. The effect spoken words have upon his life in positive ways.
