As the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State, Bishop Matthew Kukah, a Catholic bishop from the Sokoto Diocese, was chosen by President Bola Tinubu.

The President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the announcement in a statement on Monday.

The institution’s senior officers, including Prof. Daniel Abubakar as university librarian, Ibrahim Dalhat as bursar, Sanusi Gambo Adamu as registrar, and Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas as vice chancellor, were also named by the president, according to Bayo.

“President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mr Thomas Etuh, representing the North Central, Chief Fabian Nwaora (South East), Prof Femi Taiwo (South West) and Zarah Bukar (North East). as members of the university’s Governing Council.”

Based on their illustrious professions, leadership skills, and commitment to improving education in Nigeria, each appointee was carefully chosen.

As the institution gets ready to admit its first class of students in September 2025, President Tinubu asked the recently selected officers to exercise visionary leadership and establish a strong basis for its expansion.

Nok University was the previous name of the Federal University of Applied Sciences. After its assets were taken over by the federal government, it was renamed.
