Stewardship is a call in the Bible for all believers, and we must know what it really entails. Recognizing God’s complete ownership of all creation, as expressed in Genesis 1:1, is the first step in biblical stewardship. It establishes our relationship with God and places us in His position as co-workers in His divine design and managers of His assets. Knowing that our purpose is to take part in God’s redemptive work influences how we value life and material belongings.

Greek terms like “epitropos” and “oikonomos” are used in the New Testament to emphasize the function of an administrator or manager under God’s direction. This is best demonstrated by Paul’s ministry, which saw his teachings as a divine trust and emphasized that stewardship is made possible by God’s grace rather than human capacity.

Although it’s frequently linked to money management, true stewardship is much more. It is the outward manifestation of our submission to and acknowledgement of God’s omnipotence over all facets of our existence. It entails committing both ourselves and our belongings to His service and admitting that we are managers rather than owners.

Whether we acknowledge Christ as Lord and allow our life to demonstrate complete obedience to Him is the central question. Therefore, stewardship is the outward manifestation of our faith that inspires us to serve God and others while sharing the gospel that has been entrusted to us.
