Transformation Today: A Daily Devotional With Victor Adeyemi
Topic: Captives of His Grace
But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and who makes known through us the fragrance that consists of the knowledge of him in every place.
– 2 Corinthians 2:14 NET
In a war, it’s the winners that usually join in the excitement and jubilation of the parade. The captives that are taken are spoils of war that are subjected to ridicule in the presence of everyone. So what did Paul mean when he referred to us as captives in a triumphant procession?
Paul was saying that in Christ Jesus, while we’ve been liberated from the law, sin, and from satanic authority, we are now captivated by the grace of God. We are captives of the love, grace and of the goodness of the Almighty God. In Christ Jesus, we have not been rescued to be let alone or abandoned. When Jesus rescued you, he brought you under a new authority, under new management.
This new management is the management of freedom and liberty. It’s not the management of chaos, pain, and oppression as was the situation in the kingdom of darkness. Christ has made you free and He has drawn you to Himself to keep you free from the devil’s devices. You are more than a conqueror over every attack of the devil that comes against you. Keep this in mind and you will see every hindrance in your life disappear.
Confession: Jesus has set me free and I am free indeed.
