Biography of Gordon Lindsay

Early Life and Ministry

Born in Zion City, Illinois, in 1906, James Gordon Lindsay was immersed in a religious atmosphere from a young age. His parents were followers of John Alexander Dowie, a prominent healing evangelist. Lindsay’s early life was marked by a deep spiritual commitment and a desire to share the Gospel.

He began his ministry as a traveling evangelist, preaching in various Pentecostal churches and conducting revival meetings. His dynamic preaching style and emphasis on divine healing and the baptism of the Holy Spirit resonated with audiences across the United States.

The Voice of Healing

In 1947, Lindsay’s life significantly turned when he met William Branham, a charismatic evangelist. Together, they founded the Voice of Healing magazine, quickly becoming a leading Pentecostal movement publication. The magazine featured articles on healing, prophecy, and other spiritual topics, and it helped to popularize the ministries of many prominent evangelists, including Oral Roberts, A.A. Allen, and T.L. Osborn.

Christ for the Nations

In 1971, Lindsay founded Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI), a Christian ministry dedicated to training missionaries and church leaders. Lindsay’s vision for CFNI was to equip believers to share the Gospel with the world and to establish indigenous churches in every nation.
