The Irohinoodua 2025 Persons of the Year are Pastors William Kumuyi of the Deeper Life Ministry and Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). In a statement posted on its website, Irohin Odua, a pan-Yoruba online news outlet, announced the award and commended the two men for their outstanding service to both God and humanity.

Prominent Yoruba individuals are honored with the yearly Irohinoodua Award. The statement, which was signed by Irohinoodua editorial board member Feyisike Adeoye, claims that Pastors Kumuyi and Adeboye have shown a remarkable commitment to serving God and people.

Noting that these two religious leaders have continuously advocated for love, peace, and fraternity, the statement emphasized the pervasiveness of violence, hatred, and division throughout the world. Nigeria had a spike in violence and strife driven by religion and ethnicity, especially around 2024.

The board stressed that Pastors Kumuyi and Adeboye utilized their power to promote peace and good neighborliness, whereas others exploited religion to inflame animosity and further certain political and ethnic objectives.

Adeoye added that even in the face of criticism, their answers have consistently been calm, considerate, and grounded on their religious beliefs. They are one of the few Yoruba leaders that have access to international leaders while not having any governmental office, the statement added, highlighting their significance on a global scale.

Irohinoodua continued by highlighting how, despite the lack of local acknowledgment, their international renown shines brilliantly and honors the Yoruba nation.
