MERCY CHINWO BIOGRAPHY
Mercy Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel minister, actress, and songwriter. She began singing when she was the age of 8 in her local church children’s choir. She broke into the limelight in 2012 after winning the popular talent show “Nigerian Idols”.
She earned recognition and respect as one of the best vocalists in the Nigerian Gospel music ministry through her hit single “Excess Love” released in 2018.
EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
Mercy was born on the 6th of September 1990 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. She was giving birth to a family of five, and she is the fourth child in the family.
At a very young age, Mercy lost her father and had to fend for herself and her siblings. Taking her music ministry seriously came naturally for her. The death of her father did not stop her but rather fuel the passion inside her.
She started singing at the age of 8 in the children’s choir in her local church. She later moved to the adult choir and also became the music director of her local church.
Mercy never stopped to confer her voice for the iconic gospel music ministers the likes of Sammie Okposo, Buchi, Chris Morgan, and Joe Praize. She began involving herself in musical competitions until she found Nigerian Idol. She won the Season 2 edition of “Nigerian Idol” in 2012.
Mercy released her debut single in 2014 titled “Testimony” and followed it with “Igwe” in 2016. Mercy Chinwo signed to Gospel Music Label EeZee Conceptz in 2017.
She released her debut studio album on February 20, 2018, titled “The Cross: My Gaze” and the 16-track song was released by EeZee Conceptz. The album featured the likes of Shady B, Fiokee, and Chris Morgan. She has been a source of freshness with her songs ever since.

ACTING
Though Mercy Chinwo is known widely for the impact she has been making in the music ministry, she also has a talent for acting. She made an acting debut in House of Gold. It is a Ghanian Nigerian comedy film and was produced by Yvonne Nelson, and directed by Pascal Amanfo.
