John Mark McMillan, a Christian musician renowned for his genre-defying talent and profoundly poetic praise music, has formally declared that his forthcoming Fall 2025 tour will be his last extensive performance series. With this choice, a magnificent 20-year chapter in his music ministry comes to an end.
In an emotional Instagram post, McMillan wrote;
“I have some sad news… This will be my last tour. It’s time for me to enter a new phase in my life where music is no longer my full-time endeavor. I want to write books, pour into a new generation of creatives, and focus on local projects.”
Even while music would always be a part of his life, he recognized the real-world difficulties facing the contemporary music business;
“Money has never been my primary motivation, but the financial burden of living in a world where music has little or no monetary value has made it hard to find a sustainable model.”
John Mark McMillan reassured supporters that he isn’t completely going away, even if he decided to stop touring full-time. In the future, he might occasionally join friends for guest performances and intends to take part in a few unique events.
“It’s been a beautiful 20 years, and you guys have been the best part,” he continued, “looking back on the experience. My touring career is over, at least for the near future, after this fall tour.”
Hope Anthology, Volume 1 launched John Mark McMillan’s career in 2002. The worship song “How He Loves,” which was extensively performed and nominated for a Dove Award, was featured on his breakout album The Song Inside: The Sounds of Breaking Down in 2005.
