According to Pastor Gbile Akanni, for Nigeria to be restored, the Church needs to turn from its sins and return to its spiritual foundation.
Speaking at a recent event, Pastor Akanni underlined that the nation’s future is directly impacted by the church’s spiritual state. He asserts that although many Nigerians hold political leaders accountable for the nation’s problems, the real problem is that the body of Christ has failed to fulfill its mandate.
“The church is sick, which makes the country sick. He urged both clergy and people to return to holiness, truth, and true discipleship, saying that Nigeria will not heal until the church repents.
He cautioned against the perils of consumerism, compromise, and superficial Christianity, pointing out that the church’s capacity to have a constructive impact on society has been undermined by this lack of spiritual depth.
“We cannot expect national transformation when the church itself needs transformation,” he added.
Many participants were moved by the sermon and offered prayers for both individual and corporate repentance. His remarks have also spurred online discussions among Nigerian Christians, who are considering how the church shapes the country’s moral and spiritual landscape.
Pastor Gbile Akanni, who is well-known for emphasizing revival and discipleship, is still advocating for a return to biblical principles as the only long-term answer for the country and the church.
