Natasha Tameika “Tasha” Cobbs Leonard popularly known as Tasha Cobbs is an American Gospel artist and songwriter. She released the EP Grace in 2013 with EMI Gospel but now Motown Gospel. The Extended Play got to No. 61 on the Billboard Charts. She won the Grammy for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. She has won 3 Stellar Awards and 3 Dove Awards.
EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
Tasha Cobbs was born on the 7th of July 1981, in Jesup, Georgia. She was born to the family of Bishop Fritz Cobbs and Lady Bertha Cobbs. Tasha started leading worship at Jesup New Life Ministries founded by her father in her hometown.
She revealed in 2016 that she fought depression in 2007.
MINISTRY
Tasha Cobbs was with Pastor William H. Murphy III of the dReam Center Church, Atlanta, Georgia in 2006 touring America for three years. Afterward, she became a worship leader at the dReam Center Church. She featured in a film titled Sinners Wanted in 2018.
Tasha Cobbs and her husband founded The Purpose Place Church in South Carolina in 2019 and they both serve as co-pastors.
MUSIC CAREER
She started her professional musical career in 2010 with the album titled “Smile”. It was recognized by EMI Gospel now Motown Gospel and they released her EP Grace on the 5th of February 2013. The EP was listed on two Billboard Charts namely: the Billboard 200 at No. 61 and Top Gospel Albums Chart at No. 2. The EP later got to No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums Chart.
Her singles “Break Every Chain” and “For Your Glory” also got to No. 1 on the Hot Gospel Songs Charts. She received the award for the Gospel Artiste of the Year at the 2015 GMA Dove Awards.
